This course varies depending on the skill level of the participants and is intended for players who range from beginner to intermediate. For beginners, the basics of the game are explored. Topics usually include board setup, movements of the chess pieces, basic strategies, basic mating patterns -- i.e., how to checkmate using various pieces.
For intermediate players, a deeper look into the basics is explored. Classical openings are analysed for their strengths and weaknesses. Players are familiarized with basic tactics such as forks, pins, and skewers.
